Women’s Rugby High Performance Player Pathway

Rugby Australia’s Women’s High Performance Player Pathway offers a clear progression from grassroots participation to elite representation. Starting at ages 6–12 through schools and clubs, players develop through age-group competitions and talent programs in the 13–18 bracket — including the Super Rugby Women’s U16 Series, National 7s Academy, and Australian Schoolgirls 7s — before accessing senior club competitions, the Australian Rugby Shield, and Super Rugby Women’s pathways at 18 and above.

At the pinnacle sit the Wallaroos, Australian Women’s 7s, and Super Rugby Women’s Teams, supported by state unions and the Super Rugby W competition. Across every level, the pathway is designed to create multiple entry points for players of all ages and backgrounds, fostering a lifelong connection to the game both on and off the field.
