A big Saturday of Sydney Women’s Rugby Union football is on this weekend, with Chikarovski Cup Round 7 and Div 2 Cup Round 5 both running concurrently on 30 May. The ladder is tightening in both competitions, and results this weekend will carry real weight heading into the back half of the season.
Chikarovski Cup – Round 7 Preview
Wildfires lead the Chikarovski Cup on 23 points after five wins from six rounds. Manly sit second on 21 points with a game in hand, and Two Blues are third on 20 — still well within reach of the top. Sydney Uni on 16 and Warringah on 13 remain in the finals picture, but both need to string results together from here. At the bottom, Easts are yet to win through six rounds.
The standout fixture of Round 7 is the top-three clash between Two Blues and Wildfires on Saturday afternoon. But there are points up for grabs across every game this weekend.
Souths v Warringah — Forshaw Rugby Park | Sat 30 May, 9:00 AM
Souths host Warringah at Forshaw Rugby Park in a match that matters for both sides. Souths have been inconsistent, two wins from five and need to find some home-ground form in the second half of the competition. Warringah have lost three of their last four and are at risk of falling out of the finals conversation altogether if results continue to go against them. Both sides need the two points.
Sydney Uni v Easts — Sydney University Football Ground | Sat 30 May, 9:00 AM
Sydney Uni come into this one off their best performance of the season, a 32–5 win over Gordon in Round 6. They’ll be strong favourites at home against Easts, who are yet to win a game or score a competition point through six rounds. A convincing win with a bonus point keeps Sydney Uni firmly in the Chikarovski Cup finals conversation.
Manly v Gordon — Manly Oval | Sat 30 May, 3:00 PM
Manly are at home at Manly Oval and carry the form of a top-two side, four wins from five games and 156 points scored this season. Gordon have shown they can compete, taking wins over Two Blues in Round 1 and Easts in Round 5, but they’ve won just two from six overall and face a difficult task away from home. Manly will be expected to win, and to win well.
Two Blues v Wildfires — Eric Tweedale Stadium | Sat 30 May, 4:50 PM
The game of the round. Two Blues host Wildfires at Eric Tweedale Stadium in what shapes as the most important Chikarovski Cup fixture of the season so far. Wildfires lead the table and have been the competition’s most consistent side, five wins from six, including away wins in difficult conditions. Two Blues have won four from six and are in strong form, having put 21 past Easts in Round 6 and held Sydney Uni to 5 points in Round 5. A Two Blues win closes the gap at the top to within a point. A Wildfires win puts significant daylight between them and the chasing pack. Every point in this one counts.

Div 2 Cup – Round 5
The Div 2 Cup ladder is tightly contested heading into Round 5. Randwick lead on 16 points from four games, but Campbelltown — the only unbeaten side in the competition — sit just two points behind on 14 with a game in hand. Wildfires 2 and Two Blues 2 are also on 14 points, with Two Blues 2 the form team of the competition after back-to-back wins of 36–5 and 42–5 in Rounds 3 and 4. Five games on the card this Saturday, with plenty at stake across the full ladder.
Campbelltown v Norths Sirens — Campbelltown Showground | Sat 30 May, 11:30 AM
Campbelltown are unbeaten through four rounds and host Norths Sirens at Campbelltown Showground. It’s their toughest home fixture of the season — Norths Sirens won 17–15 over Manly 2 in Round 4 and have shown they can compete in close games. Campbelltown will be favourites, but Norths Sirens travel with confidence and won’t be giving this one up easily.
Chifley Chiefs v Easts 2 — Peter Van Hasselt Park | Sat 30 May, 12:00 PM
Two sides at the bottom of the Div 2 Cup ladder, both looking for their first win of the season. Chifley Chiefs have lost all three of their completed fixtures; Easts 2 are yet to register a competition point through three rounds. One of these sides will get off the mark on Saturday, and the result will have a bearing on who picks up points at the foot of the table in the rounds ahead.
Two Blues 2 v Wildfires 2 — Granville Oval No 1 | Sat 30 May, 1:25 PM
The standout fixture of the Div 2 Cup round. Two Blues 2 are carrying momentum that is hard to ignore — 78 points scored across the last two rounds — and host Wildfires 2 at Granville Oval No 1. Wildfires 2 have won three from four and are no easy opponent, having shut out Norths Sirens 12–0 and beaten West Harbour 27–10 in back-to-back rounds. This fixture will go a long way to deciding who sits third on the Div 2 Cup ladder, and potentially who keeps pace with Campbelltown and Randwick at the top.
West Harbour v Randwick — St Luke’s North | Sat 30 May, 1:30 PM
Randwick lead the Div 2 Cup ladder and make the trip to St Luke’s North to face West Harbour. West Harbour started the season strongly — 41–0 and 53–12 in the opening two rounds — but have since dropped consecutive games to Two Blues 2 and Wildfires 2. Randwick away from Coogee Oval is a genuine test, and West Harbour at home with something to prove makes this a competitive fixture. A Randwick win strengthens their grip on top spot. A West Harbour win keeps them in the top six and puts pressure on the sides above them.
Manly 2 v Gordon 2 — Manly Oval | Sat 30 May, 4:25 PM
The day’s final game. Manly 2 and Gordon 2 sit in the bottom half of the Div 2 Cup, and both need to put points on the board. Manly 2 have one win from four — that 60-point haul against Easts 2 in Round 2 — but have found consistency hard to come by. Gordon 2 are yet to win, drawing once and losing twice. Manly 2 at home will be the likely favourite, but Gordon 2 will be desperate to get their first win of the season on the board.
Chifley Chiefs and Campbelltown’s postponed fixture will be played at Peter Van Hasselt Park on Thursday 4 June at 7:00 PM.
